Introduction
Hi. I'm the user known as Gaaz--for Georgia/Arizona.
I live in Northeastern Arizona and am in Georgia for work. I was raised up in the LDS Church until our entire family was excommunicated for believing in doctrines no longer taught within the Church.
My dad entered the Principle, and so did I shortly thereafter.
We all live under one roof--the ten of us--soon to be eleven. The Principle, of course, has its trials and no monogamist will ever comprehend what both the women and men living that lifestyle go through. It basically is what one makes of it--will one allow emotions to govern ones life, thoughts, actions, or will one make the best of things and put aside feelings of self, and be of service to others? Life in my home has been, for the most part, a pleasant experience. Sure we've had our share of trials, but those are there for us to overcome and grow--spiritually, emotionally, morally, et cetera, etc.
I've noted many discussions devoted to HBO's Big Love--I was once asked by a fan of the program if I'd ever watched it. My response was, "I am immersed in that lifestyle--why would I want to view a work of fiction written by a couple of fags?" And no offense to the writers' choice of sexual expression; from what little I've seen, they have conglomerated a bunch of groups in the SLC area--the FLDS, the Kingstons, the Allreds--and I always thought LaMoine looked like Harry Dean Stanton long before he stepped into the role of "Roman". But what turned me off the most is the depiction of Saints as mindless automatons quoting nonsensical rhetoric.
The truth is, Fundies are some of the freest thinkers I have ever known. At least the ones in my circle. I can't speak much for the FLDS and Willie. I have never been associated with them--related to Willie, I'm certain. Definitely related to Moroni, though. I've yet to see the Extreme Wife episode.
So, nice to meet you.
Cheers.
