Women Trapped in Polygamists’ Cult!

The only problem seems to be that no one told the women they were trapped. In fact, they seem rather content with their lives.
Apparently a sect that encourages polygamy has gotten the attention of the government of British Columbia whose officials have rushed to proclaim the women "exploited" and "trapped."
But as this article makes clear, the only ones trapped are governmental officials. They're prisoners of a worldview in which women, if they don't kow-tow to contemporary notions of what a woman should be and do, must be exploited. And if they're exploited, they must be saved, and who better to do that than governmental officials who don't know the first thing about these women's values? And who, I suspect, wouldn't care if they did.
The State of Texas did something similar last year when it converged on a Mormon community, swept up 416 children and dumped them in foster care on the basis of a bogus telephone tip. That was despite the fact that the local sheriff had a snitch in the Yearning for Zion community for four years, but still had no probable cause to search the place or arrest anyone. Reputedly, some of the teenage girls were pregnant and, you know, that never happens anywhere else.
I hold no brief for polygamy. And if anyone anywhere is holding someone against his/her will, that needs to stop. And if anyone anywhere is forcing someone to have sex against his/her will, that too must stop.
But why not let these adult women make their own decisions even if they haven't consulted "authorities" ahead of time? Why do those authorities seem so afraid of dissenting views and divergent behavior?
