Polygamy Home

Polygamy is in SK already.

I've been re-financing again and took another trip to my solicitors. The Saskachewan homestead act has effectively protected polygamy since 1981, and still does as of this very day. For all the media BS about Blackmores defense riding on allowing homosexuality the truth of the mater is that Canadian courts handle legal polygamists via common law who moved in with someone else and didn't divorce on a regular basis. There isn't an effective legal way to diferetiate Blackmore and the overwhelming number of Canadians who are polygamists via serial monogamy. While in court Blackmores defense may use the recent acceptance of homosexuality, what's kept him from being prosecuted for over a decade, and what makes him likely to win is that polygamy is so normal in Canada the government simply cannot fight it.

As it sits in Saskachewan under the homesteader act nos 2, 3, 4 and on have all the legal rights of number one just as long as they have been together for two years and the government is hopeless to prosecute any cases of bigamy. Other provinces legal protections vary, and BC does not give the same protections as SK so Blackmore has more liability than I do. But hands down no kidding, you want to be poly and safe, come to SK. If Blackmore loses we still have homestead act protections, and if he wins you've got a whole country that fully recognizes and protects you're freedoms.

There is no common law

There is no common law marriage in Washington State, so it's just co-habitation, not illegal as far as I know

Interesting

That is interesting too, we should compile a list of places where polygamy is safe or relatively safe for information sake.

Sorry Charles, not likely going to get asylum. Too bad.

quid pro quo

If a plural marriage is recognized by Canada, would the USA be required (by treaty) to recognize it?

Not per se

It would be unable to prosecute Canadian Polygamists who's second ect marriages are in Canada, but it would not be required to recognize marital the rights of a second wife who is a dual citizen, you would still have to set that up with a layer.

As most here know Canada and Brittan already recognize poly marriages formed in allied or friendly countries (and even some not so friendly ones), but the US has no part in that.

On the other hand the nature of Aboriginal treaties would probably mean that if Canada allows polygamy (which would of course include Aboriginals) then the US would have to for that group at least. No saying if they would actually do it though.

asylum

Maybe we can get asylum in Canada for RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION IN THE USA?

If it happens, I am interested.
