URGENT: Judge rules 'Sister Wives' lawsuit on polygamy ban to go forward - Fox 13 Now - Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY— A federal judge has refused to dismiss a lawsuit filed by a reality TV show polygamist and his wives, challenging Utah's ban on polygamy.
In a ruling released late Friday afternoon, U.S. District Court Judge Clark Waddoups ruled that Kody Brown's lawsuit against the state can proceed. However, he did dismiss Governor Gary Herbert and Attorney General Mark Shurtleff as defendants. Utah County Attorney Jeff Buhman remains a defendant.

British Columbia Supreme Court upholds the constitutionality of Canada’s anti-polygamy law

In a rather disappointing turn of events the BC Supreme Court has upheld the anti-polygamy laws.

Liberal judges and politicians sure do find interesting ways to create new

and ever oppressive legislation they call "laws", but perhaps none so

farcical as a "law" against that ever so sacred liberal cow called 'tolerance'.

Ordinarily, so-called "liberals" will beat you mercilessly over the head with

wild claims of "your intolerance" over a host of issues, even when it involves

the intolerance of the abortion of late term foetuses, by crushing their skulls

(more on this below). However this latest article shows a new shift in twisted

"liberal" philosophy.

Imagine you had committed a crime that could send you to prison for several years, and the cops had found out, but you can rest easy because in your back pocket you have a letter from the State’s Attorney General saying that even though he knows about it, he is not going to prosecute you, because he hasn’t got anything else on you. How should you feel?

Relieved you no longer face the threat of jail?
Worried, in case something else you’ve done ends up with you facing two sentences instead of one?
Puzzled, that the State says something is a crime, but doesn’t enforce it?

Polygamist, Under Scrutiny in Utah, Plans Suit to Challenge Law

Kody Brown is a proud polygamist, and a relatively famous one. Now Mr. Brown, his four wives and 16 children and stepchildren are going to court to keep from being punished for it.

The family is the focus of a reality TV show, “Sister Wives,” that first appeared in 2010. Law enforcement officials in the Browns’ home state, Utah, announced soon after the show began that the family was under investigation for violating the state law prohibiting polygamy.

On Wednesday, the Browns are expected to file a lawsuit to challenge the Utah law that makes polygamy illegal.
